"みどりのパフォーマンスにも扱い切れない感情が生々しく露呈していたように思います。それは特にシアターキネマティカでのパフォーマンスで際立って見えてきました。彼女はロープをライターの火で切断しようとしました。そして、自分で自分を縛り、そこから抜け出そうとしました。私にとって強く印象に残っているのはオーディエンスに「助けてください」と呼びかけたことです。「助けて」の一言は弱々しく響くかもしれません。しかし、私たちは「助けて」の一言を発することが出来ずに苦しみます。「助けて」の言葉は、資本主義の競争社会では禁じられた一言だからです。「勝て」「負けるな」にかき消されていく「助けて」の一言は、私たちを縛り付ける規範的な権力に対する反抗であり、プロテストなのだと思います。そしてそれはもしかしたら、震災の被災者が発することが出来なかった言葉なのかもしれないと私は想像しました。"

“I felt that in Midori’s performance, emotions that even she herself could not fully contain were vividly exposed. This was especially striking in her performance at Theater Kinematica. She tried to cut a rope with the flame of a lighter, then bound herself with it and attempted to break free.
What left the strongest impression on me was when she called out to the audience, ‘Please help me.’
The words ‘help me’ may sound weak, but in reality, many of us suffer because we cannot bring ourselves to say them. In our capitalist, competitive society, ‘help me’ is a forbidden phrase. Drowned out by commands like ‘win’ and ‘don’t lose,’ the cry of ‘help me’ becomes an act of resistance—a protest against the normative powers that bind us.
